Here's The Proof:
Port Hardy is at the top of Vancouver Island, where all 5 species of migrating Pacific Salmon are split into two streams....
1) Those that are funnelled South down the Inside Passage... and
2) Those that go South down the Outside of Vancouver Island.

So you've got to be lucky in Port Hardy, because we get the first crack at all of them!... both streams!... So everyone downstream gets what we missed!
It is only a 20 minute drive from Port Hardy to the west coast waters...

The Pacific Ocean, The Top of Vancouver Island, The Inside Passage, The Mainland Inlets, etc
